Mission Statement

 

It is the Mission of The Abington Historical Commission (AHC) to preserve and protect the community’s historic resources of the Town of Abington.  We are the watchdogs of Abington’s future as well as the guardians of its past.    Our Mission includes, but is not limited to:

• The planning and implementation of programs for the identification, evaluation, and protection of historic resources.
• Coordination with departs and committees whose interests involve community planning and/or historic preservation.
• To identify projects that should be recognized as having national importance and follow through with preparation and ongoing communication with Massachusetts historical Commission (MHC) in getting the respective project(s) nominated for the National Registry of Historic Places
